We all know the story by now: the burnout numbers, the collective exhaustion, the rising mental load. But what stands out to me isn\u2019t just the tiredness. It\u2019s how differently people respond to it now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not that long ago, stress or fatigue would trigger an obvious escape: Friday drinks at 4 PM, followed by a weekend of events and blowing off steam in every way. Monday came, not always superfresh, but back to it we went. And that rhythm kinda worked, until it didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns gap-xl is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Somewhere along the way, we crossed a line.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>For three decades, the mantra was simple: <b>bigger, better, faster, stronger<\/b>. More festivals, more acts, more FX, more experiences. If you didn\u2019t keep up with the growth, you got left behind. Until, suddenly, \u201cmore\u201d stopped working.&nbsp;Venues began to empty out. Festivals struggled. Hospitality lost its shine. The party was technically still on, but the energy had drained from the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What we\u2019re feeling now has a name: <b>experience fatigue<\/b>. Then Covid shut everything down. When restrictions lifted, it exploded: packed line-ups, full schedules, crowded venues. Revenge spending became the theme, trying to make up for lost time.&nbsp;But adrenaline isn\u2019t endless. After the peak came the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now? We\u2019re looking at the fallout. Lower festival attendance. Clubs running fewer nights. Caf\u00e9s closing down.&nbsp;Not because people have stopped caring, but because they\u2019re tired and simply don\u2019t want <i>as much<\/i> anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>The Covid Whiplash<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What we\u2019re seeing isn\u2019t just cultural. The craving for connection is still there, just not at the pace we used to push. A slow night at home. A proper conversation at a quiet bar. I think we\u2019re not tired of <i>joy<\/i>. We\u2019re tired of <i>deciding<\/i>. &nbsp;Where to go. What ticket to buy. Which night is worth it? Who\u2019s going? Who\u2019s not?&nbsp; Should I be there? Or can I skip it just this once?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe that\u2019s why we scroll so much. Endless feeds require nothing from us. No commitment, no decisions. Psychologists call it <b>avoidance behaviour<\/b>. A way to escape when the world becomes too demanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This same fatigue shows up in empty venues and falling visitor numbers across hospitality. Not because we don\u2019t want anything anymore. While clubs and festivals are fighting for relevance, one of the biggest winners right now is\u2026 Club Med.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes really, that old-school, wristband-wearing, mini-disco icon of the &#8217;80s. Thanks to TikTok, it\u2019s become a kind of millennial life hack: <b>all-inclusive, hassle-free, curated and camera-ready<\/b>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The numbers back it up! Record revenues, 75%+ occupancy, mountain resorts +20% growth (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hospitalitynet.org\/news\/4127831.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com\"><i>Source: HospitalityNet, June 2025<\/i><\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s ironic. After decades of being told by venues and curators we needed to <i>learn how to choose<\/i>, the format that removes choice altogether is suddenly winning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>A Society in Reset<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Experience fatigue doesn\u2019t just affect nightlife or festivals. It runs deeper. It\u2019s visible in our work rhythms, our media habits, even our relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re collectively searching for a new tempo. <b>JOMO<\/b> (the Joy of Missing Out) is finally pushing back against <b>FOMO<\/b>. Spending time <i>with<\/i> each other is becoming more important than merely <i>being around<\/i> each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Economically, we\u2019re seeing a two-speed market take shape:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On one side: a hunger for simplicity and certainty. Think all-in formats, big headline acts, theme park logic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the other: a growing desire for intimacy and real meaning \u2014 house concerts, community dinners, slow retreats.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s in the middle? More and more\u2026 nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that\u2019s the big risk. Those clinging to \u201cmore of the same\u201d may lose their audience faster than ever. The middle ground is dissolving. No more weekly events, but just a few standout moments that truly earn attention (and budget).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b> The Digital Escape<\/b><b><br><\/b>Virtual or hybrid experiences that deliver dopamine without the stress of the real world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b> The Inner Circle<\/b><b><br><\/b>Tiny gatherings. Private dinners. Unpolished, real connection.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The future may not be about \u201cmore\u201d or \u201cless\u201d anymore.
